Internet Meme Monday 11: Fred and Ginger Censored.

Welcome back to Internet Meme Monday!  What is a meme you say?  Well, as I understand it, a meme is similar to a gene, except instead of passing on genetic information it passes on cultural ideas.  A meme can take many forms, from a catch phrase to a hand gesture, but the type of memes I’ll be looking at every second Monday of the month are “internet memes”.

On the agenda this month?  I totally ruin some classic Hollywood film clips!

Today’s meme was first brought to my attention with the now classic “The Count Censored” video where The Count from Sesame street sings about all the stuff he loves to count.  A few well placed beeps later and you suddenly have a MUCH dirtier song. Anyway, I thought I’d try my hand at a similar video today. My first thought was that scene from Gone With the Wind where Gable is telling Leigh how much she needs to be “kissed”. So I went ahead and whipped this up:

Of course (like the scene in The Big Sleep where Bacall talks about how much she’d like to peg Bogart), the Gone With the Wind clip is slightly less amusing in this context since he was basically talking about fucking anyway.

So my next stop was to take one of the best and most romantic scenes from one of my favorite Fred and Ginger musicals and totally ruin it. Thus I present to you “F***ing Cheek to Cheek”:

It turned out ok, but I’ll have to keep my ears open for better examples since you can’t just replace any word with a beep after all. It was hard to find enough places for a good fucking once they started dancing.  But next time I hear an old movie clip with a verb that is repeated over and over like the “count” song, well, look out youtubes, I am totally prepared to ruin it for everyone!
